Ah, the ampersand!
A glorious path
Uniting, bringing
Ideas, people,
All things
Together
haiku & photography
Blanket to my chin
Arms tucked underneath
I resist motion
Thinking of the fresh snow
I blink
A child’s born
Another blink
He stands
The next
He walks
Each moment
Gently changes
The world
Her heart of stone
Sedimentary rock
Made of pressure
Upon layers of
Heartache and
Pain
I drove through this town
Historically Floridian
Just after dusk
Children biked past
To safe security
Of electric lighting
Dinners, cleanliness
And the dreams
Of being beloved
Yellowish glow
Flows from glass
Interrupting the night’s
Dark embrace.
I wonder what
Such sensation
Feels like
As the firefly
Moves across
The darkness
Leaving a trail…
Moments fleeting
Into memory
Then mist’s winds
Drag them
Beyond the treetops
Up to the stars
Today I’m remembering
Dreamy winters night’s
Near the coast of Oregon
A steady rain falling
Drinking coffee with friends
Jazz plays from a small radio
Voices of friends faded
Some returned to dust
This time so many ago
Many rains have washed away
The memory dusty not gone
It delights me so
Drifting across the earth
Dropping a word here
Another there
One in France
The next Africa
Seconds pass
Seeds planted
Hope gently
Kindled
Sometimes, my goal is
Simple: don’t screw things
Up, don’t make it worse.
Really, the best I offer?
Love, to care, gently holding
Small pieces of this
Life, and try to help them
Feel their glorious uniqueness.
Maybe, just maybe, bring a
Little bit more light into
This angry, bitter world.
Of such I dream.
I cannot explain
The depths of my heart
Nor can anyone clearly.
Perhaps that’s
What’s meant by
“We’re alone”.
Yet, when we go
Deeper than words
Touching souls becomes
Possible.
