We are unable
To summon basic respect
For views not our own
As long as we, as a culture, or as a species, struggle to summon basic respect and dignity for each other, we will fail.
Near Daily Haiku and Micropoetry
Life is much too short
Don’t forget to feed your soul
Therein lies beauty
This Haiku was inspired by this short movie: “Paul’s Boots”. Give it a watch. Maybe two. Reminds of how much I love the hiking community.
We glorify
Independence
Yet it is imperfect.
Humanity needs
Community
Nothing more destructive
Than isolation
We are quick to speak
So often finishing
Sentences of others
Missing details of,
Well, everything.
By rushing, everything
Is slower.
Reality often is
Counterintuitive, I guess.
Slowing, focusing, listening,
Focusing on that listening
Listening to UNDERSTAND
Not only more productive;
Relationships built.
You can’t get win-win
By being driven by your fears
Only love drives this
I am my brother’s keeper
Or, at least, so I try
Though difficult
Deeply worthwhile
