A morning journey Off to the nearby island With people I love Spent the morning over in Whidbey Island watching a cross country regional competition. I’ve known many of these kids their whole lives, so there a certain poignancy.

Nighttime dominates Sleep continues its demands I cannot resist
I find myself doubting my past, second guessing my choices. This quote, this proverb reminds me of the pointlessness of that behavior. That I need to keep my eyes in the now, on the future. And so I get up and move forward.
In today’s cold fog Sunlight never reached the ground Winter approaches
I feel fear’s cold edge Darkness descending early Wearing my wool clothes Autumn’s presence now permeates the air. Leaves fall with vigor.
Life is beautiful Yet also cruelly brutal I feel winter’s edge The strange dichotomies of life. Finding beauty with the deep sadness upon friend’s wings. At times I feel an awkward wonder at what our heart’s hold at the same time.
I struggle to see That “not losing” and “winning” Are not the same thing I’ve been working on myself lately. Adjusting my.mind, embracing the possibilities, and releasing all the fears lurking within, holding me back.
